Series Book of James V - If You Are religious - Lead Pastor, Dr. Rob Patterson

February 14, 2019
If You Are Religious

1.If you are religious - listen and do the Word
2- If you are religious - keep a rein on your tongue
3- If you are religious - minister to those in distress
4- If you are religious - keep yourself clean

Scripture: James 1:22 – 27
23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom and continues in it – not forgetting what they have heard but doing it – they will be blessed in what they do. 26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
The themes are gracious speech, compassion, and purity.

Do what it says.

Series Book of James III - The Gospel:The Great Equalizer - Sabrina Wiens

February 6, 2019

Message inspired from James 1:9-12. Who does God say you are? Do you need to be lifted up and reminded that God has given you a high position? Or do you need him to bring you down, reminding you to put all of your trust in him. If you strip things back to just you and God, who does he say you are?

Series Book of James II - Managing Temptation - Lead Pastor, Dr. Rob Patterson

January 25, 2019
The wisdom of James - Temptation

James 1: 13 – 19
13 When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. 16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created. 19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

When You Are Tempted
What must we do when tempted? What can we do?
1- When tempted - don’t blame God
2- When tempted - do blame yourself
3- When tempted - do look up – then run

The themes on this message are strength, forgiveness, hope and help.

Listening to God’s Voice in the New Year Part 2 - Lead Pastor, Dr. Rob Patterson

January 25, 2019

I want to give you a homework project. Do one thing as a result of today's message. It may be to commit to worship every Sunday in 2019. To start memorizing a Bible verse a week, start having a quiet time every day -- 5, 10, 15 minutes. Do something! Don't waste it. When you see the birds in the air after church – I want you to think about how you are making yourself good soil. And my prayer for you is that in 2019 God would do some incredible things in and through you.

Listening to God’s Voice in the New Year Part 1 - Lead Pastor, Dr. Rob Patterson

January 25, 2019

Lord help us to have roots that go deep, to have an open mind to hear you and to take the time so that we don’t miss what you are trying to say to us. Part of the reason we celebrate the Lord’s supper each month is so that we stop and listen to what the Lord wants to say to us. In communion he tells us he loves us, he tells us he forgives us, and he tells us that as his children we are to go out into the world and share his love and forgiveness.

Advent Week 4 - Anticipate - Lead Pastor, Dr. Rob Patterson

January 25, 2019

Anticipating the Love of God, inspired in the Scripture of Isaiah 9: 2,6-7. May we slow down and consider the good news of God coming to us in Christ. May those of us who have lived as followers of Christ consider our lives before Christ, and since He came into our lives, and thus rejoice at all His goodness in our lives.

Advent Week 3 - Rejoice - Lead Pastor, Dr. Rob Patterson

January 25, 2019

Rejoice the King has come! This message is based on the scripture of Romans 11:33-36

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and[i] knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34 ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counsellor?’[j]
35 ‘Who has ever given to God,
    that God should repay them?’[k]
36 For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory for ever! Amen.

The miracle of Christmas is that God is at work in our lives in ways that we do not understand. Therefore we rejoice knowing God sent Jesus for us. We rejoice because God is working in us and through us for our good and His glory.
